Hi, I'm more than glad to help you with your assignment. I will answer your questions to the best of my knowledge that I've gathered through the experience that I've had dealing with gangs.
How high is gang- related crime compared to unrelated gang crime?
On the first question that you asked, I'm not sure if you're referring to with in the city, valley, state, or nationwide. Gang related crimes are hard to keep track because the gang members don't admit of being a gang member when they are arrested,or the police departments don't ask the criminal if they belong to a gang, and many other factors affect the record keeping of gang members.
Who are the targets that are wanted to join their gangs?
The second question you asked, who are the targets that are wanted to join gangs? Gangs target people who are lonely, vulnerable, people that are very sociable, people who are not family oriented, people who have weak minds (people who can get easily manipulated or influenced by others),uneducated people, these are the people that gangs target to be members of their gangs.
What gangs are the strongest in the valley? Is there any gang that was not started in the valley, and has come to establish here?
The strongest gangs in the valley are the Texas Syndicate, Vallucos, Mexican Mafia, and a couple of other ones but these are the main ones. I'm not sure there are other gangs that weren't started here but are established in the valley. The thing is that they stay in the down low, another words they don't make themselves noticable because the stronger gangs will retaliate against them.
Which gangs are enemies and which gangs comply with each other?
The gangs want to be respected by other gangs so that's why most gangs are constantly fighting each other.
In what cities is it more dangerous because of gang activity?
The gang activity is more common in the upper valley and bigger cities where the population is bigger.
Are there a lot of gang activities at schools?
Schools have their share of local street gangs.
Are there any programs that keep or help teens out of the streets and away from gang activity?
There are several different programs out there that help teens to [stay] away from gangs for example the Boys and GirlsClub, the after school programs, and the churches have groups not only locally but nationwide.
Is there any additional information that you would like to add?
The local street gangs are very common in teenagers because they want to imitate what they see in the movies. The media, television, movies, internet, music also influence teenagers into joining gangs.
I hope this information will help you with your assignment.
